Right next to Herford, and what that means for your party
Hiddenhausen borders Herford to the south and east, Bünde, Kirchlengern and Löhne to the north and Enger to the west. It is the smallest municipality in the Herford district and has grown so closely together with its neighbours that you barely notice the boundary when driving through.
For planning, that means it makes no difference to the running order whether you celebrate in Hiddenhausen itself or a few kilometres further in Herford. The preparation is the same, and the DJ you talk to beforehand is the one who plays on the night.
Married in Hiddenhausen, celebrating a little further on
Hiddenhausen has three places for the civil ceremony, and two of them are anything but an office. At Gut Bustedt on Gutsweg, couples marry in the art room, surrounded by wall paintings from 1797 to 1799 – up to 20 guests in the larger room. At the Museumsschule in Schweicheln-Bermbeck the wedding party sits on old school benches: the classroom in the listed half-timbered building holds about 40 people, and the champagne reception can take place in the granary next door. The third is the town hall in Lippinghausen with its terrace.
None of these rooms is meant for the party in the evening. Two venues nearby where the night can carry on:

Around 40 kilometres, and why we still arrive early
Our gear lives in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock, around 40 kilometres from Hiddenhausen via the A33, the A2 and the B239. We plan the drive so we are there 1 to 1.5 hours before the first guest: setting up, tuning the sound to the empty room, agreeing with the catering team when the food comes.
The same applies at the end of the night. We pack down when nobody is dancing any more and take everything with us, so nothing is in the way the next morning.
Hall, farmyard or garden: parties without a built-in sound system
Not every party happens in an event venue. Birthdays and anniversaries in particular often take place in a pub's function room, a club house, on a farmyard or in a marquee in your own garden – rooms with no speakers on the ceiling, where nobody quite knows how loud it may get.
So we check three things beforehand: where the nearest fused socket is and whether the kitchen is already on it, how far it is from the van to the setup spot, and whether neighbours live within earshot. Hiddenhausen is the most densely populated municipality in the Herford district, so in a garden that last question is usually the one that matters most.
Outdoors, quiet hours start at 10 pm. A conversation with the neighbours beforehand does more than any consideration afterwards.
