What we saw there ourselves
We are here regularly, and the kitchen is the reason it never turns into routine. The food is different every time, and every time it is good. For you that mostly means the culinary half of the evening is the part you need to worry about least.
Two rooms, two different evenings
The event barn is why many couples say yes here: wood, height, a rustic interior, decorated to the season. A room with character, and character means we listen to it beforehand and tune the sound to it rather than recalling a preset.
The restaurant seats up to 200 and is the more generous of the two: more floor, more tables, more people you want to reach, on the dance floor at the front as much as at the last table at the back.
How we adjust to the rooms
We arrive about an hour and a half before your first guest and use that time on the room: set up, measure, listen. An evening sounds right when the music belongs to the dance floor and the rest of the house gets exactly as much of it as you want.
For lighting, the barn plays its height. Moving heads need that distance for their beams to stand freely in the room, and under an open roof truss it looks genuinely good after dark.
For the barn our Plus package usually fits, for a full party in the restaurant Ultra is the better match. What actually comes along we decide from your guest count, not from a catalogue.
Outdoor ceremony and reception
The estate and its meadows are the obvious place for a ceremony in the open. Outdoors there are no walls to send sound back, so without a system of its own the celebrant is lost after three metres, more so once the wind picks up.
So a battery speaker with a wireless microphone comes along, running independently of the gear indoors. That also means you do not have to commit: if the weather turns, the set moves inside without anyone re-plugging cables.
Arrival, unloading, setup
Sitting right by the A2 at exit Herford-Ost makes this the easiest part of our day: no town-centre traffic, no narrow access, short distances from the van to the setup point. We are there around 1.5 hours before your first guest.
What should be settled beforehand is the power socket. A farm estate rarely has power exactly where the DJ stands, so we agree it with the venue before the date and bring enough cable that nobody has to improvise on the night.
