A converted barn on a working farm, out in the countryside of the Altenau valley near Atteln, extended in 2024, with 10,000 square metres of green grounds where ponies and donkeys delight the youngest guests. Wantüns Festscheune, run by the Meermeyer family, is one of the loveliest new wedding venues in the Paderborn district.

What we saw there ourselves
The barn sits idyllically in the countryside, and you feel it from the first moment: the atmosphere is family-run and warm, more like being invited than booked. Inside, wooden beams and rustic charm meet bright, modern rooms – a mix that looks as good in daylight as it does in the evening with lighting. Handy: there is a socket on the terrace. If you like, that is where an extra speaker with a microphone can go for the outdoor ceremony in the garden or the drinks reception – for the officiant as well as for a singer, with no cables across the courtyard.
Saying yes where you celebrate
Outdoor ceremonies take place in the garden here, with a ceremony tent on the meadow, surrounded by green. An extra speaker with a microphone is possible so the back rows hear every word – for the officiant and for a singer too. You can add it as an option; there is power right at the terrace.
From the courtyard into the barn
Drinks and photos happen outside: in the courtyard, on the lounge terrace or under the linden tree. Inside, the barn waits – rustic wood, modern and bright, with long tables. When the reception turns into the party is agreed with you beforehand – one song that brings everyone in, and the dance floor has its start.
