DJ at Der Lippische Hof, Bad Salzuflen
In the middle of the half-timbered old town, built into the old city wall – and right at the top, THE View, the event floor looking out across the rooftops. How an evening up there runs, and what we bring for it, is on this page.

What we saw there ourselves
The view is why this room works. Looking out over the gables of the old town while the dance floor runs behind you takes away the closed-in feeling an attic floor can otherwise have – and it means guests taking a break do not leave the building, they just walk to the window or out onto the terrace.
THE View: the room at the top
THE View sits right at the top, with sloping ceilings, a window front and a view over the gables of the old town. That is why couples choose this room, and for us it is the room where the time before the party pays off most.
We arrive about an hour and a half before your first guest, set up and tune the sound to the empty room. By the time you come in from the reception, everything is standing and sounds the way it will sound all night.
Lighting that needs no drilling
Our entire setup stands on its own tripods. Nothing is drilled, screwed or hung from a ceiling – in a building like this that is not a detail, it is the condition on which we are allowed to set up at all.
The sloping ceilings are an advantage here: lit from below they carry colour into the corners of the room without anything having to be suspended. The room brings most of the effect with it.
For THE View our Plus package is usually the right fit. With a full room heading towards 180 guests, Ultra is the more sensible choice, because the light then spreads more evenly along the length of the room.
Roof terrace: the reception upstairs, not downstairs
The terrace next to THE View removes the usual break in the evening. The reception, the cigarette break and the blue-hour photographs all happen on the same floor as the party – nobody has to cross the building, and the dance floor does not empty completely every time.
For outside, a battery speaker comes along that runs independently of the gear indoors. So there is music at conversation level during the reception while everything inside is already standing and tuned.
Arrival, unloading, setup
The building sits in the middle of the old town and the event floor is right at the top – for us those are the two points that want settling beforehand. Where can the van stop, and does the equipment go up in the lift? We agree both with the events office before the date and plan the setup to start earlier.
There is free parking at the building plus a multi-storey car park, which is one item fewer on your guests' list to worry about.
What is written about the venue
Three things come up again and again in public descriptions and reviews: the setting in the middle of the historic old town, built into the old city wall; the view from THE View across the rooftops; and the facilities of a four-star house with two restaurants, a bar and a small spa area. For a party, that last point mostly means one thing: the guests who want to stay do not have to drive.
Summarised from the public sources linked below, as of 25 August 2026. We deliberately do not repeat a star rating here – that belongs on the venue's own profile.
Common questions – Der Lippische Hof
How many guests fit into THE View?
Public sources state up to 180 guests, with THE View and the adjoining roof terrace together at around 400 sqm (as of 25 August 2026). How many of those can sit and dance at the same time depends on the seating plan, which is best settled directly with the events office once your guest list is final.
How does a party in THE View sound?
Good, provided somebody takes the time beforehand. We set up about an hour and a half before the first guest and tune the sound to the empty room instead of recalling a preset. No extra equipment is needed for that, it is part of our packages.
Do you fix anything to the ceiling or the walls?
No. All of our lighting stands on its own tripods, nothing is drilled, screwed or hung. In a historic building that is not a detail, it is the condition on which we are allowed to set up at all.
Can we stay in the building afterwards?
The hotel states 65 rooms, plus 35 design rooms in the adjoining THEhotel. For you as a couple and for guests coming from further away, that is the thing worth most at the end of the night – ask the hotel directly about room allocations.
